GALLERY of STUFF

Here is where the main substance is. A gallery of stuff, basically, that happens to include pictures of the basses I've made so far.

#0619

Mostly Walnut Six String

BODY: highly figured walnut top, maple accent layer, walnut body
NECK: five piece flame maple/wenge bolt-on
FINGERBOARD: wenge, 24 frets, 35" scale
ELECTRONICS: TBD

In Progress:

#0618

Sherbert Four String

BODY: makore/canarywood/makore top with purpleheart stringers, inverse pattern back
NECK: three piece canarywood/purpleheart bolt-on neck with black/white pinstripes
FINGERBOARD: cocobolo, 24 frets, 34" scale
ELECTRONICS: Yancey J-pickups, Bartolini 2-band preamp

I am probably going to keep this bass. I have some sort of strange affinity for canarywood and have wanted to use it in a bass for years.

Also I've come to accept that I'll never make 10,000 basses so I'm changing my serial number system to incorporate the year, hence #0618.

Koa Delight
for Greg M.

NECK: five piece ash/wenge set-neck
FINGERBOARD: ziricote, 24 frets, 35" scale
ELECTRONICS: Nordstrand dual coils in ziricote/walnut covers, Mike Pope preamp.
Greg picked some tasty looking woods. Koa is tricky and its full beauty is only apparant when finished. You will want to eat this bass once it's done.

Myrtle Purple Maple
BODY: myrtle top, maple back, alder core
NECK: five piece maple/purple heart set-neck

This might be my favorite bass so far.

Four string ash special
BODY: two piece ash
NECK: ash set-neck with wenge center laminate
FINGERBOARD: wenge, 24 frets, 34" scale
ELECTRONICS: Bartolini X4 CB series

This is my second bass with an ash neck. Mike Tobias is using it now alot but I think I beat him to it by a couple of years (see #0007!). So far it sounds great.

Picture from the owner, who also owns #0016.
